In 1964, the World's Fair was in New York City. Our family went to it.
I remember a few things about this. 1. There were a lot of tolls to pay on the drive to and from (there still are, although one may pay electronically). 2. There were some concept exhibits like 'house of the future', 'car of the future', 'phone of the future'. 3. There was
the Unisphere, which is still there in Flushing Meadows (it currently looks like
image one from the Wikipedia article on the Unisphere but used to look like the second image). The Unisphere has been used
in movies, e.g., "Men in Black". 4. It was
hot at the World's Fair and there was a drought in the North East that
year. When we went to a restaurant we had to order water or they
wouldn't bring it. Between meals we had something called "Italian
Ices". I remember this all yesterday because I bought some Italian Ices (yes they are kosher and parve) per Beth's request.
I vaguely remember that back in 1964 they tasted OK but not spectacular. This year I think they were pretty good but not spectacular.

Martin's memories preceding the chronicles, i.e., before 1986. The reason for this blog is to capture old memories that come back to me at seemingly random times. Thus the entries will not be in chronological order. Also, the accuracy of this blog is less than the accuracy in the more contemporaneous blog http://weisschronicles.blogspot.com/
