While I was on travel May 14 I got email from Irwin. He wanted to know if I remembered a game in which the Senators were leading by 12-5 going into the bottom of the ninth (game played in Boston) but lost 13-12.
I spoke to Stanley Cohen on May 18. He immediately recalled that the game was played on June 18, 1961. He told me about a website called http://retrosheet.org/ which had game by game information. The website confirmed Stan's recollection and provided all kinds of other information. For example, I had not remembered that the game, which was played in well under 3 hours. Stan noted that the game was played on father's day and he was visiting his grandparents that day. Then I recalled that we were also visiting grandparents that day. I also remembered how painful it was to listen to the Senators blow the game. Here is the retrosheet information on the game.

Martin's memories preceding the chronicles, i.e., before 1986. The reason for this blog is to capture old memories that come back to me at seemingly random times. Thus the entries will not be in chronological order. Also, the accuracy of this blog is less than the accuracy in the more contemporaneous blog http://weisschronicles.blogspot.com/
